About Rodney O’Neil Williams

 

Rodney O’Neil Williams is running for District Judge to bring a wealth of experience, integrity, and fairness to the bench. With nearly 30 years of professional experience in law enforcement and legal practice, Rodney is committed to upholding justice and serving the people of Fort Bend County.


 

Education:

• Juris Doctor – Tulane Law School, New Orleans, LA (May 2000)

• Specialized Courses: Trial Advocacy, Criminal Defense Law Clinic

• Bachelor of Science in Corporate Human Resource Management – Palm Beach Atlantic College, West Palm Beach, FL (April 1997)

Admitted to the Texas Bar on December 14, 2000. 

A member in good standing since.

As a candidate for District Judge, I believe in fairness, integrity, and transparency. With a diverse background in both law and law enforcement, I understand the importance of a judge who listens, who is impartial, and who has the experience to handle complex legal matters with wisdom and empathy.

Associate District Judge

 Fort Bend County, Texas - 240th Judicial District Court (January 2023 - Present)

• Appointed by the elected Presiding Judge of the 240th District Court.

• Presides over a wide range of legal matters, including criminal felony cases, civil suits, and appeals from lower courts.

District Judge

State of Texas Judiciary Division, Richmond, TX - 268th Judicial District Court (January 2019 - January 2023)

• Managed felony criminal matters, complex civil litigation, and appeals from lower courts.

Senior Assistant Public Defender - Trial Division

 Fort Bend County Public Defender’s Office, Richmond, TX (February 2016 - December 2018)

• Handled criminal defense cases from intake through trial for indigent defendants, including pre-trial motions, voir dire, and trial advocacy.

Attorney - Sole Practitioner

 Fort Bend County, TX (December 2000 - February 2016)

• General practice with a focus on criminal defense and civil rights violations. Represented clients from arraignment to trial, with additional work in family law and civil tort litigation.

Student Attorney, Criminal Law Clinic

 Tulane University, New Orleans, LA (August 1999 - May 2000)

• Represented indigent clients in criminal cases from discovery through trial.
